23 years and counting

Our technicians were not certified this year, they've been actively doing this work in our clinical environment for years. We've stretched everyone from professional athletes in the National Hockey League all the way down to 12 year old children who are beginning an athletic career. Regardless of surgeries you have had, implants in your body, your current level of pain or ability to move, our experienced technicians have the hands-on experience to help you improve quickly.

Why consider one on one assisted stretching?

Our technicians use a combination of PNF, (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), active and passive stretching techniques. Our program is directed to stress reduction, pain reduction, better muscle flexibility, more joint mobility, and a higher quality of life.

Other benefits include better posture, more energy, more restful sleep at night, correcting muscular imbalances, improving strength and power, increased blood flow throughout the body, better balance producing a reduced risk of falling. Improving your overall mobility will also quicken recovery time from exercise routines you are currently engaged in.

Our technicians have as many as 23 years of clinical experience working with clients of all ages, conditions, prior surgeries, and injuries. They are the most highly qualified, well trained, experienced and professional technicians in the local industry.

Who is stretch shop really for?

Stretch shop is for everyone! No matter your age, body weight, prior surgeries or medical conditions, we can help. If your goal is to have a more powerful golf swing or just to tie your shoelaces without pain, our one-on-one stretching program is safe and effective.

Do I have to sign a contract or make a three month commitment?

Absolutely not! Your hairstylist, massage therapist, finger nail artist, aesthetician, physical therapist or chiropractor does not require you to sign a three month contract. Only the fitness industry requires that because they realize they have a better chance of you not showing up during that three month period then actually showing up. That's where their profits are made. This is also why there is currently a rush to the fitness industry market, of stretching businesses as they have become the most profitable fitness franchises in the United States. All of our sessions are by appointment only and you will never sign a contract. You only pay when you come in. Each session is 45 minutes in duration that is $65 per session.

Will I be sore after being stretched?

Any time that muscle fibers are stretched beyond perceived, resting length, microscopic tears may occur in the fibers. Your body's natural defense is to create inflammation around those microscopic injuries in order to start the healing process. Discomfort is usually very tolerable or not even noticeable. Each client is in constant communication with the technician and ultimately is in total control of their perceived feeling during a stretch. We never take a stretch, on the pain tolerance scale, greater than a #3. Number one means “I feel nothing” and number 10 means “I need to go to the hospital”. We never advance beyond a #3. There are many reasons that discomfort can occur post stretch, whether it be from adhesions of muscle and fascia or the breaking up of scar tissue from prior injuries but it should be nothing more than you've ever felt after a light resistance training workout. Generally, speaking, discomfort is only experienced after the first or second session.

Who performs the stretching at stretch shop?

Our technicians are hands on certified and have completed a 100 hour training program. Their training requires a comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology and was not online certification. All of our technicians are certified personal trainers, athletic trainers and movement specialists.

Can stretching assist my weight loss efforts?

The more stress you are under throughout the course of each day and the tighter your muscles are, the more cortisol and adrenaline is being released through your vascular system. Science has shown for decades that those stress hormones produce weight gain and also negate most weight loss efforts. As the cortisol level drops in your body, your body's ability and willingness to access body fat stores for energy will increase. Mobility work is one of the best ways to reduce stress throughout the body.

How does stretch shop differ from other mobility programs and yoga?

Other modalities in mobility work require each individual to push themselves. Not only do they perform most of the exercises improperly but they push themselves too hard creating other issues, increasing post session pain, and a lack of interest in the program overall. Our program is completely one on one and our clients need do nothing except relax and enjoy the session. The mobility and flexibility benefits, they will experience will come much faster, and with significantly less work and trauma to the body.

Do you strap your clients to a massage table? That makes me feel uncomfortable.

We understand completely! We never use straps to hold anyone down on the table. In fact, we work people on very comfortable mats on ground level as well as the massage table. Depending on a client’s ability to get to the floor or to get on a table, that may direct us one way or the other but we prefer to use both modalities. The reason that some businesses will strap you to the table is to prevent other body parts from moving during a stretch. We believe that our technicians get greater bio-feedback on how each stretch is affecting your body by keeping both of our hands on your body at all times. When your body begins to change its position, we are aware of it immediately because we are not relying on a strap to create stability in your body. This constant contact helps increase our ability to keep you safer and increases the trust bond between technician and client almost immediately.

Is stretch shop a replacement for massage therapy?

Absolutely not. Stretch Shop is a great addition to your recovery work and massage therapy. Massage therapy does not penetrate into the deep musculature of the human body. Stretching accesses the soft tissue, tendons, ligaments and all layers of muscle. There are many muscles in the human body that cannot be reached by a massage therapist due to their depth or placement on the anatomy. Only knowledgeable technicians have the ability to get at those muscles and move them properly.
